Sinigang na Hipon

When my mother came to visit, I told her how much I craved for "Sinigang na Hipon." It is a sour soup with vegetable and shrimps/prawns. My mother used prawns and that made it way better! A few days before that, I was watching cooking tutorials from "PanlasangPinoy" on Youtube and I stumbled across the soup. Since then, it stuck in my head and all I wanted was to have some.

I have the best mother in the world! When I told her how much I wanted the sinigang, that night she made me some right away. We ate it the moment it was cooked and it was steaming and tasty. My mother used "Knorr" sampalok mix for the soup and I'm recommending it because I can't say negative to the flavour at all.

And here is my bowl serving...
I was so happy when I finished eating. My cravings were satisfied indeed.

Bon Cafe @ N Hotel (Part 4)

This is my last entry for Bon Cafe meals as I don't see any more food pictures on my folder. For each dinner, me and Steve had our orders for no less than P1,000. Each meal, we were always stuffed and satisfied whenever we left from Bon Cafe. I actually cannot determine which dish was my most favourite since they're all good in different ways. I hope Bon Cafe will maintain its reputation and to improve more, for the benefit of them and of their customers.

This "Coffee Ice Cream Cake" was just dainty! This was my last meal with Steve because the next day, he flew back home to Canada. He wanted to order the same dessert as well but since it was mother's day that time, a lot of people ordered this dessert and good thing there was one left so he gave it away to me. It's too bad I don't have a close up picture for the ice cream cake but on top of it was a cherry. This ice cream cake costs P140. Anyway, as for the "Chicken Fingers with Mayo Dip," it costs P190 and is a tasty appetizer. This serving can fit 2 people.

I remember ordering this dish at lunch time and we had it delivered on our room. It was very delicious but they use the bony part of the chicken too much, I had to nibble all the time and there were so many since Bon Cafe serve really big! I have to suggest to them that they should remove the bony part of the chicken so that the customers will enjoy more. Other than that, the dish was really delicious!

I had to be honest here because I want my entry to be reliable for the readers. This is the only worse dish I ever tasted at Bon Cafe. I hope it's only for me and the way it served because when I tasted it, it stinks. I didn't smell it but it tasted pretty bad. The sauce was delicious though more than Big By's Baby Back Ribs sauce. The only wrong about this was the meat itself. I hope they made a mistake with the preparations because if it's the same with the others, their reputation might suffer since there are people who are easily discouraged the first time they tasted the worse foods. Good thing I tasted a lot of good food first at Bon Cafe before tasting this or I wouldn't encourage Steve to eat there again. The price for this baby back ribs is only P350.

As I am used to my Filipino-Sweet-Style Spaghetti, I was appalled the moment I tasted it. I really can't appreciate it because it's my first time tasting such a sour spaghetti. But this is the normal flavour for Spaghetti Marinara so I cannot complain about it. If people can appreciate sour spaghetti then you can try this for only P180.

Bon Cafe @ N Hotel (Part 3)

The staff of N Hotel's Bon Cafe were always courteous with us and served us with pleasing smiles on their faces. They got used to me and Steve having our dinner there and it seems the waiters who served us loved him. Steve tips big and I can tell you, they had miss him when we finally checked out. So anyway, another entry for our Bon Cafe meals and experience. Hope this information gives a good tip for you if you wanna try out Bon Cafe.

I forgot to mention that before we start our meal, we were always served with their free corn soup. The corn soup was very creamy and served hot. It taste better with pepper.

I'm not always a fan with pineapple but the reason why I ordered this pineapple shake was because I wanted to taste something different. Surprisingly, it tasted good but it just cannot be as good as the mango shake in my opinion. The price for pineapple shake is only P80.

I ordered "Chicken Cordon Bleu" first because the waiter explained to me what kind of food it was. It's a ham wrapped with chicken and coated with gravy. I didn't manage to have the dish because it was sold out so the next day, Steve ordered it for himself instead while I ordered the different dish I wanted to try as well. I asked him how it was and he said he doesn't like it much and I can see it from the look of his face. Compared to honey orange chicken were he mentioned how good it was for like a hundred times. He gave me a piece and tasted it for myself and I had to admit, it wasn't delicious at all. I reckon, because the ham, the chicken, and the gravy didn't blend well together. If you want to give it a try, you can buy it for only P260.

I had "Pork Belly with Asian Sauce" for P350. This dish was marvellous! I'm recommending this to anyone who loves pork. The skin of the pork however, was too hard to chew and wasn't as tender as the meat. But I wouldn't make a fuss out of it since I don't usually eat pork skin unless it's fried or "Lechon Baboy." You would love this dish very much and I can guarantee you that. You will stuff yourself easily because it has a large serving size.

Bon Cafe @ N Hotel (Part 2)

This is my second entry for the same restaurant, Bon Cafe. I've got more entries to come since we spent 10 days at N Hotel and we had a chance to order the different food they had on their menu. I just fell in love with the restaurant really! It has a very refreshing smell, astounding ambiance with jazz music, good service and the waiters always re-fill your glass of water when they notice it's empty. I just cannot see any reason for someone to dislike it. Bon Cafe is that good.

Typical mango shake really but they use real mango fruit for it; not just any mango flavouring like other people would sell. I can also tell there's milk mixed in it hence I find it delicious. You can have a sip for only ₱80.

I never tasted cheese sticks before but I had the idea how it's cooked. I should try to cook it when I have the time. It's too easy 'cuz all you have to do is slice cheddar cheese, wrap it with Chinese egg roll and fry, then you're done! The cheese sticks tasted well with their plain flavoured crackers. The cheese sticks for only ₱180 is enough to fill you up honestly, we asked the waiter to clear our table because we couldn't finish it.

At first my boyfriend ordered this orange chicken for ₱250. He kept saying how delicious it was and when I had a small bite, I agreed it was really juicy and tender. On the next day, I ordered it for myself so I could enjoy it more but I didn't enjoy it at all. I realized that the sauce was too sweet and was sensitive on my mouth. Steve disagreed with me but I think maybe that's just my sense of taste. I can't tell you I can't recommend it since someone else enjoyed it after all, but I suggest that  you should take only a bit of sauce with the chicken because the sauce was just overly sweet.

We ordered cappuccino after our dinner and it served a bit late than the night before Steve ordered it. We both like the design they made in the coffee. I can't say much about it though because it's just a mere coffee really. It was a bit bitter so I had to add more sugar. You can have it for only ₱80.

Bon Cafe @ N Hotel

When my boyfriend from Canada visited me here in the Philippines, he chose to stay at N Hotel as a result of his hours of researching what the best hotel in CdO is. A lot of foreigners who experienced N Hotel recommended it as a must-try hotel for its cleanliness and attentive staff.

There were lots of compliments from customers of N Hotel and it in fact lived up to our expectations. The food at Bon Cafe Restaurant was as good as the Hotel itself; with very reasonable price and huge servings too!

I ordered Bon Java Smoothie because of the beautiful picture of it on the menu. People always say to not judge something by its cover but I sure didn't make any mistake for doing so. Bon Java Smoothie was the best smoothie I have yet tasted!  It is one of the orders I cannot forget. You can have it for only  ₱95.

My boyfriend, Steve, ordered Chicken Quesadilla for our appetizer. It was a real appetizer alright! The tasty quesadilla with shredded chicken and melted cheddar cheese. Because we love the Chicken Quesadilla so much, we ordered it alot when we spent our days there. It costs ₱180 pesos and good for 2-3 persons.

Tenderloin Steak for only ₱350. It is good but not tender. I just can't recommend it for someone who has false teeth because even I with normal teeth was having a hard time chewing it. The next thing I did was to slice it in very tiny pieces and that's how I started enjoying it.

On the next day, we had some snacks in the afternoon and we had Pepperoni and Cheese pizza for only ₱220. At first when Steve ordered it, I didn't like the thought of having Pepperoni pizza since I always prefer lots of meat toppings pizza. I actually never expected it to be turned out delicious! It was one of my recommended pizza. They only have tiny size good for 2 people though but I really recommend this pizza.

Breakfast at Jollibee Gateway

at 10:06 AM 0 comments
I woke up early and got dressed to eat breakfast at Jollibee Gateway. I was so hungry because I didn't eat dinner. I was so sleepy to even bother so I woke up with my stomach growling. I didn't like to prepare food for my breakfast because I want it done quickly and I was craving for a Jollibee meal all of a sudden. Luckily I have money enough to spare.

Please click on Photo for Larger View
There are breakfast meals for Jollibee such as eggs, sausages, pancakes, etc. but since I was very hungry, I ordered some spaghetti, chicken, french fries, and an extra rice. I know it sounds heavy but trust me, it was really enough for my needs at that time, hence I managed to finish it all.

Please click on Photo for Larger View
I was very satisfied with my orders and I always loved Jollibee's Chicken Joy. So far, Jollibee's fried chicken is the best I ever tasted. I will never say it cannot be defeated 'cuz who knows there might come a time when I come across a well made one. This Spaghetti and Chicken meal along with medium sized gravy and regular coke costs only ₱112.

Please click on Photo for Larger View
As for the regular French Fries, this costs only ₱28 pesos. I love French fries very much! I can't say much about it since most all French fries tastes the same. Especially that this one has no flavour.

Lola Bebe's 75th Birthday

at 5:28 AM 0 comments

Yesterday, I had to escort my brother, yup! that's the word because he didn't want to go to Initao alone. I gave him instructions on how to go there but he was too timid to probably ride a bus alone. I mean seriously, I think no one would get lost if they just follow instructions right?

Anyway, the thing is, we were invited for my Grandmother's Sister in Law's Birthday. It was actually Tita Joy(my mother's cousin) who invited us but since it's Tita Joy's sister who sent my brother to school, my brother wouldn't say no to their family. I was actually wanted to come but somehow, well...I suddenly felt that I will miss Steve for a day so that's why I hesitated to come. I already told my brother but he insisted that I should be there. I was annoyed of how weak he was to not travel alone but something occurred to me, I remember that when the time I was the one who sponsored for our former group which called "First Time Club," most of those members didn't come and I felt that my time, effort, and money were wasted. I expected those people to be grateful but they weren't. That's the reason why I thought that I should really come because I was invited.

We went to Gaisano first because that's where the jeepney is to go to the bus terminal. Me and my brother bought some Jollibee food for snack because riding the bus from CDO to Initao would take around 1 hour. At the time we're in the bus and took off, I was having fun taking pictures with myself and my brother. I also record a short video of the place we passed by. I started to think that it was worth going there just because of the picture taking. Lol, I was really having fun!

When we arrived at my Tita Joy's place, I was enjoying talking with my cousin Gizelle. I always liked her because she and I can always relate to most of things we talk about. I slept there for the night because the next day of that would be Lola Bebe's birthday. I was a bit disappointed that I didn't manage to use their computer because someone was using. I didn't brought the wimax internet with me because I know there won't be signal in their place.

The birthday was great and there were lots of meals on the table. I was a bit guilty eating so much because me and Gizzelle planned to be on diet for the next 2 months in order to get a 2 piece swimsuit pictorial on a beach. But still I ate so much because I want to enjoy it. Besides, that would be the last. lol I hope that our plan will happen. Even if it were delayed, I plan to make it happen. My mother brought her masterpiece Biko (rice cake) at Lola Bebe's birthday. A lot loved it and I hope that one day she'll teach me how to cook it. We stayed there for another night because it was already dusk when the party finished. I enjoyed staying there because the bed was very comfortable and all of my aunts were very hospitable. I hope there will be next time and with lots of picture taking. Good thing I decided to be there because I was having fun.
